About the Journal

Focus and Scope

JMIR Reviews in Digital Health is an open-access journal serving as a dedicated venue for literature reviews and evidence synthesis at the intersection of health and technology. Its scope spans systematic reviews, meta-analyses, scoping reviews, umbrella reviews, rapid reviews, narrative and integrative reviews, and living reviews. Topics of interest include eHealth, digital health, telemedicine, health informatics, consumer health technologies, digital therapeutics, artificial intelligence in health, and related fields. The journal consolidates high-quality review scholarship, upholding methodological rigor, transparency, and reproducibility as primary criteria for acceptance.

The journal maintains an explicit, transparent stance on AI-assisted evidence synthesis. Rather than prohibiting machine assistance, JMIR Reviews in Digital Health permits and structures the responsible use of AI tools across the review lifecycle, subject to disclosure according to editorial policies, reproducibility requirements, and human accountability. In addition to conventional peer-reviewed evidence synthesis, the journal welcomes emerging synthesis formats such as living systematic reviews and AI-supported reviews.
